The Radiation Sciences Program is an undergraduate baccalaureate degree program in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine (CCOM). See the UI General Catalog (click on "Carver College of Medicine," then "Undergraduate Programs") and Radiation Sciences websites.
The curriculum is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge needed to adapt to the increasing sophistication of radiation sciences and to meet the multi-credential/multi-competency demands of the profession. The degree requires the completion of specific general education courses, a professional radiography program, a second modality program (Cardiovascular Interventional Imaging (CVIT), Computed Tomography (CT) Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy), advanced course work, and electives to obtain a minimum of 124 semester hours of credit.
The baccalaureate program is an undergraduate division of the Carver College of Medicine. The University of Iowa has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602; telephone 312-263-0456) since the association's organization in 1913.
The Baccalaureate Program in Radiation Sciences at the University of Iowa serves as an educational center in the state of Iowa thereby offering the only program in the state with a multicompetent major in radiologic technology and an additional specialty (credential). The program, along with the University of Iowa, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine promotes educational excellence by:
