doctors

The Carver College of Medicine’s Physician Scientist Training Pathway (PSTP) is intended to promote the postgraduate training and career development of physician-scientists who will become future leaders in academic medicine. The Pathway integrates the transition period from completion of the MD degree through residency, clinical fellowship, and basic or clinical postdoctoral research training. Key features of this Pathway include:

Participating departments include Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Neurology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Radiation Oncology. Other Carver College of Medicine departments may also choose to participate (contact the PSTP Office for a current list of participating departments).

Dual Career Network

An additional benefit of admittance to the Physician Scientist Training Pathway is eligibility for support provided by the Dual Career Network program. This service, ordinarily only available for spouse or partner of newly hired faculty or staff, provides consultative services to our trainees' partners at the University of Iowa.
