Medical Microbiology is a full service laboratory offering a complete spectrum of diagnostic tests in:
- antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- bacteriology
- microbial serology
- molecular methods
- mycology
- mycobacteriology
- parasitology
- virology
The laboratory performs approximately 125,000 diagnostic procedures annually.
Provides specialized support for the Divisions of Clinical Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases.
The faculty also direct active research programs with an emphasis on the epidemiology, mechanisms and detection of antimicrobial resistance.
The laboratory has an extensive medical education program that includes the training of residents, fellows, medical students and Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) students.
