Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award
(College of Medicine (COM) Faculty and Staff)

The COM Pathology faculty and staff have the opportunity to nominate their fellow staff members or employees for the following awards:

Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD) Nomination Form

When considering a Departmental College of Medicine employee for this award, please nominate an individual who has shown exemplary performance or extra effort over a period of time, as opposed to a single event.

In order to nominate an individual: Fill in the PDF as instructed and email it to the Departmental HR office. You need only click where indicated on the bottom of the form to trigger the email. Award Presentation: Recipients will receive an award certificate as well as a $5.00 gift certificate to the EMRB café. The award will be presented to the recipient by the nominating Pathology member at an appropriate venue (faculty meeting, lab meeting, staff meeting, etc).


Exceptional Performance Nomination Form
(COM Pathology faculty and staff; biannual)

Must include each of the following:

Departments are responsible for funding of awards.
Percent of staff appointment must be 50% or greater.
Eligible staff must be non-organized P&S.
Staff member must have a minumum of one-year tenure in a budgeted position with the University of Iowa.
Awards are taxable to the staff member.
Flexible pay is a lump sum bonus and not included in the base salary.
Staff may receive a maximum of two awards totaling up to 10% of their base salary per year.
Recent above average performance evaluation must be attached.

Exceptional Performance Nomination Form
(UIHC Pathology faculty and staff; annual)

The Flexible Pay Program is a great opportunity for Managers to use compensation to develop, motivate and recognize their staff and assist in the success of the employee, the unit, the department and the organization. Exceptional Service Award can be from $75 to a maximum of 10% of salary and can be given no more than twice to a cumulative total not to exceed 10% of salary. The compensation will be taxable to the individual. Nominations will not be accepted after April 30, of each year for inclusion for that year's payroll.

Making a Difference Award Program
(Making a Difference for UIHC Staff)

All UI Health Care faculty, staff, and volunteers are eligible to receive a recognition award through a new program called "Making a Difference." The focus of the recognition program is to support and promote the special efforts that make a difference to our patients, their families, our co-workers, and the public we serve reflecting our commitment to innovative care, excellent service, and exceptional outcomes.

All nominations will be reviewed by Hospital Human Resources and awarded at the appropriate recognition level. Nominations can be submitted by faculty, staff, volunteers, patients or visitors. Pathology Human Resources will be contacted when the nomination has been approved and will coordinate with the manager or supervisor.

Staff Excellence Award
(COM Pathology & UIHC Pathology Staff)

The Board of Regents Staff Excellence Award is to recognize staff for outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the institutions as well as the State of Iowa.
