Schedule:

24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Comments:

Fibrin Degradation Product (FDP) testing on Outreach specimens will be 
performed 0800 - 1630 Monday through Friday unless prior arrangements 
are made with the Hemostasis Laboratory at 319-356-3573.

Methodology:

Latex agglutination.

Sample
Processing:

Centrifuge within two hours of draw time.
Aliquot serum/plasma into plastic container and cap (glass is not 
acceptable).

Storage:

Freeze specimen immediately.

Transport
Instructions:

Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag.
Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Place dry ice on top of specimen in styrofoam container.

Instructions:

1) Special FDP tube (924089) is filled with a maximum of 2 ml of
   whole blood.
2) Mix tube quickly after filling and allow to clot.
3) Incubate tube at 37 degrees Centigrade for 30 minutes.
4) Complete processing instructions as detailed above.
