Schedule:

0700-2200, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Analytic Time:

Cultures are completed within 3-5 days.

Comments:

Collect specimen using a culturette and swab directly to a Jembec plate 
if available.  Place white tablet in hole of the Jembec plate (to 
provide CO2 atmosphere) and place in the Ziploc bag provided.

Processing:

Label transport tube with two patient identifiers, date and time of 
collection.
Maintain sterility and forward promptly to lab.
Specimen should be collected and packaged as close to shipping time as 
possible.
Specimen source is required on requisition for processing.

Storage:

Maintain specimen at room temperature.
Do NOT refrigerate.

Transport
Instructions:

Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag.
Recommend express mail or equivalent if not on courier service.

Instructions:

Do not refrigerate. Collect on swab and inoculate Jembec plates 
(transport the same as swab)if available. Note: A dacron shaft sterile 
swab may be used to swab the Jembec plate.
