Interpretive Data:
Ribosomal P antibodies are primarily used as an adjunct in the evaluation of patients with suspected lupus erythematosus (LE). Antibodies to ribosome P proteins are considered highly specific to LE and have been reported in patients with central nervous system involvement. The frequency of ribosomal P antibodies in patients with LE is approximately 12%. A negative result for ribosomal P antibodies does not rule out LE.
