Adult Preferred Minimum:  1 mL serum
Adult Absolute and Pediatric Minimum: 0.5 mL serum
Rejection Criteria:
Heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, or contaminated specimens.
Analytic Time:
2 days
Reference Range:
Less than 5 IU/mL: Negative - No significant level of detectable 
rubella IgG antibody.

5-9 IU/mL: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

10 IU/mL or greater: Positive - IgG antibody to rubella detected, which 
may indicate a current or previous exposure/immunization to rubella.
Interpretive Data:
The best evidence for current infection is a significant change on two 
appropriately timed specimens, where both tests are done in the same 
laboratory at the same time.
