Rubella Antibody, IgG
Order Code: RUBEIGG
Specimen:
Plasma
Collection Medium:
Plasma Separator Tube
Minimum:
3 mL whole blood in light green top tube or TWO microtainers.
Rejection Criteria:
Heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, or contaminated specimens.
Analytic Time:
1 hour (upon receipt in laboratory)
Reference Range:
Less than 5 IU/mL: Negative - No significant level of detectable rubella IgG antibody. 5-9 IU/mL: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful. 10 IU/mL or greater: Positive - IgG antibody to rubella detected, which may indicate a current or previous exposure/immunization to rubella.
Interpretive Data:
The best evidence for current infection is a significant change on two appropriately timed specimens, where both tests are done in the same laboratory at the same time.
Test Limitations:
Hemolysis: No significant interference up to an H index of 5600 (approximate hemoglobin concentration: 5600 mg/dL).

Lipemia: No significant interference up to an L index of 1500 (approximate triglycerides concentration: 3000 mg/dL). Note there is poor correlation between turbidity and triglyceride concentration.

Icterus: No significant interference up to an I index of 30 (approximate conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin concentration: 30 mg/dL).
Methodology:
Chemiluminescent Immunoassay
