Sample Processing: |
Lavender tube is sent as whole blood, no processing necessary. Allow the specimen to clot for approximately 30 minutes. Centrifuge at 3000 RPM for 10 minutes. Label transport tube with two patient identifiers, date and time of collection. If the separator gel does not create a sufficient barrier between the plasma and cells, aliquot the plasma to an appropriate transport vial. |

Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag. Place requisition into outside pocket of bag. Transport in cooler with refrigerated coolant packs. |
