Minimum:

2 ml whole blood in light green top tube or one 0.4 ml microtube.

Schedule:

24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Analytic Time:

2 hours (upon receipt in laboratory)

Reference Range:

peak 30-40 mcg/ml; (30-60 minutes after I.V. infusion)
trough  5-10 mcg/ml; (not more than 30 minutes before next dose)

Critical value: >50 mcg/ml

Processing:

Centrifuge at 3000 RPM for 10 minutes.
Aliquot serum into labeled container and cap.

Storage:

Freeze specimen immediately.

Transport
Instructions:

Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag.
Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Place dry ice on top of specimen in styrofoam container.
