Collection Medium:

Minimum:

Adults: 5 mL red top and 2.5 mL CSF (both required)
Pediatrics:  2 mL red top and 2.5 mL CSF (both required)
The CSF and serum samples must be collected at the same time, from the 
same patient.

Denovo IgG synthetic rate -9.9 - 3.3 mg/24 hr

Comments:

Include pertinent clinical information on requisition.
Report includes:
  1.  CSF and serum albumin quantitations
  2.  CSF and serum IgG quantitations
  3.  CSF IgG index
  4.  Denovo CNS IgG synthetic rate.
  5.  CSF agarose electrophoresis (IgG oligoclonal banding) and
      interpretation by pathologist.

Methodology:

Turbidometry and High Resolution Electrophoresis

Sample
Processing:

Centrifuge at 3000 RPM for 10 minutes.
Aliquot serum into screw-capped plastic vial.
Relevant clinical information must be submitted with specimen in order 
to provide correct interpretation of test results.

Refrigerate serum 2-8 degree C.

Transport
Instructions:

Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag.
Place specimen into styrofoam container, seal container.
Ship at ambient temperature.
