2 ml whole blood from light green top tube or two microtubes for 
pediatric patients.

13-60 U/L

Comments:

Effective 8/23/06, reference range changed to 13-60 U/L.
From 9/9/99 to 8/22/06, reference range was 16-63 U/L.
Prior to 9/9/99, reference range was up to 190 U/L.

Test
Limitations:

Criterion: Recovery within plus or minus 10% of initial values at a 
lipase activity of 50 U/l.

Icterus: No significant interference up to an I index of 60 
(approximate conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin concentration: 60 
mg/dl).

Hemolysis: No significant interference up to an H index of 500 
(approximate hemoglobin concentration: 500 mg/dl)

Lipemia (Intralipid): No significant interference up to an L index of 
1000 (approximate triglycerides concentration: 2000 mg/dl). There is 
poor correlation between turbidity and triglycerides concentration.

Aliquot plasma into labeled container and cap.

Instructions:

Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag.
Transport in cooler with refrigerated coolant packs.
