Reference Range: |
A normal serum sample shows a light diffused staining of polyclonal immunoglobulins in all tracks. The serum IFE report will include a descriptive report of abnormality, if present. | ||
Comments: |
Include relevant clinical information and consultation request. Quantitative kappa/lambda light chain ratios are recommended as a screen for suspected multiple myeloma, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, or malignant lymphomas, except in the setting of bone marrow or solid organ transplantation. | ||

Sample Processing: |
Centrifuge at 3500 RPM for 5 minutes. Aliquot serum into labeled container and cap. Relevant clinical information must be submitted with specimen in order to provide correct interpretation of test results. | ||
Sample Storage: |
Refrigerate serum 2-8 degree C. | ||
Transport Instructions: |
Place specimen into zip-lock type bag, seal bag. Place requisition into outside pocket of bag. Ship at ambient temperature. | ||
