Acute Myelogenous Leukemia Profile testing now includes UBA1 for VEXAS, Tuesday, January 30, 2024

The Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Profile (LAB9075) testing from the Molecular Pathology Laboratory has been updated to include the full coding region of the UBA1 gene. UBA1 is an X-linked gene that encodes an E1 enzyme responsible for initiating ubiquitylation. Somatic mutations in UBA1 have been associated with VEXAS (Vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X-linked, Autoinflammatory, Somatic) syndrome, a severe autoimmune condition characterized by fever and inflammation.
