Continued Delays in Mailout Testing Due to Weather Impact on Express Shipping, Thursday, January 18, 2024

Severe weather throughout the nation, and particularly at the FedEx Memphis hub, continues to impact express shipping to major reference laboratories. Shipping of mailout testing via FedEx has not been possible this week due to weather conditions in Memphis. As a consequence, there is now a considerable backlog in Memphis that will further delay transport of specimens to reference laboratories.

Mailout testing with limited sample viability has a high likelihood of being cancelled due to these weather days. Please refrain from collecting non-urgent mailout testing until next week, if feasible.

When possible, Pathology Mailouts staff will stabilize samples for shipment next week.
