See 'Viral Culture' for collection guidelines.

Enterovirus Culture - Appropriate specimens:  CSF, stool, throat swabs, 
tissue biopsy, lesion swabs.  Tissue culture isolation screen for 
enteroviruses, coxsackie, polio, and echo viruses that grow in tissue 
culture.


Delivery Instructions:


Mix well and place on wet ice.  Keep on ice and deliver to
laboratory immediately.


Testing Schedule:


0700-1630, 7 days a week, including holidays.


Analytic Time:


Cultures are held for 2 weeks.


Comments:


Transport media available from Hospitals Stores (923740).


Methodology:


Standard tube culture.
