Minimum:
Adult Minimum: 1 mL CSF serum or plasma Absolute Minimum: 0.5 mL CSF, serum or plasma CSF, tissue biopsy (freeze tissue immediately) Bone Marrow collected in EDTA
Rejection Criteria:
Nonsterile or leaking containers. Heparinized, frozen, hemolyzed, or clotted whole blood. Tissues in formalin or other preservatives. Samples in Microtest M4.
Delivery Instructions:
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Specimen Instructions:
Sample source must be included.
Analytic Time:
4 working days upon receipt at reference laboratory
Reference Range:
Negative - Epstein-Barr virus DNA not detected by PCR. Positive - Epstein-Barr virus DNA detected by PCR.
Test Limitations:
Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue can be submitted, but it is not an optimal sample. Transport at 20-25 Degrees C.
