Minimum:

6 mL red top tube
CSF, tissue biopsy (freeze tissue immediately)

Rejection Criteria:

Nonsterile or leaking containers. Heparinized, frozen, hemolyzed, or 
clotted whole blood.  Tissues in formalin or other preservatives.  
Samples in Microtest M4.

Delivery Instructions:

Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.

Reference Range:

Negative - Epstein-Barr virus DNA not detected by PCR.
Positive - Epstein-Barr virus DNA detected by PCR.

Test
Limitations:

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue can be submitted, but it is 
not an optimal sample. Transport at 20-25 Degrees C.
