Call laboratory for additional acceptable specimen collection 
containers.
Minimum:
2 mL whole blood from light green top tube or 1 light green microtube 
for pediatric patients
Specimen
Instructions:
Avoid hemolysis and unnecessary exposure to light.
Testing Schedule:
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Analytic Time:
1 hour (upon receipt in laboratory)
Reference Range:
0.0 - 0.2 mg/dl
Test
Limitations:
Hemolysis: Hemolysis interferes with the assay.

Lipemia: Roche/Hitachi 917/MODULAR analyzers - Lipemia levels greater 
than 100 mg/dl (Intralipid) cause significant (greater than 10%) 
positive interference to elevated
direct bilirubins.
