Minimum:
Preferred Minimum:  1 mL serum or plasma
Absolute Minimum:  0.2 mL serum or plasma
Rejection Criteria:
Ambient and unprocessed blood samples (EDTA whole blood).
Delivery Instructions:
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Analytic Time:
5 days upon receipt at reference laboratory
Reference Range:
0-234 ng/mL
Interpretive Data:
Patients with high lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 
concentrations greater than or equal to 235 ng/mL are at increased risk 
for cardiovascular events including myocardial infarction and ischemic 
stroke.  The median lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 value for a 
healthy population is 235 ng/mL.
