Rejection Criteria:


Specimen received after prolonged delay (more than 24 hours).


Delivery Instructions:


Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.

Aerobic Culturette (#922349) is available from Hospital Stores.
Maintain specimen at room temperature.


Testing Schedule:


0700-2200, 7 days a week, including holidays.


Analytic Time:


Cultures are completed within 2-3 days.


Comments:


Used to detect colonization with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus 
aureus (MRSA) only. This test should not be used to establish the 
diagnosis of infection.
