Collection Medium:
Urine - Random urine container
Minimum:
10-15 mL random urine may be submitted if patient is symptomatic.
Delivery Instructions:
Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.

Instructions:
Instructions for choline load (patient non-symptomatic).
a. Collect a random specimen and label it "pre-load".
b. Give a choline dose of 50 mg/kg (not to exceed 3 g of choline
   bitartrate - found in health food stores).
c. Collect the entire specimen between 6-12 hours following the
   choline dose; label this specimen "post-load".
d. Keep refrigerated during specimen collection.
e. Mix well and send a 10-15 mL aliquot for testing.
Analytic Time:
4-6 weeks
Comments:
NOTE:  pH must be acidified to <5.0.  Send in glass screw-cap top 
tubes.
