Comments:

Patients must be pre-approved by blood center physician staff or
protocol to be eligible for leukoreduced units.  Units are irradiated 
when indicated per Blood Center protocol.

Call the Blood Center (356-2561, when you need a unit of blood).  Turn 
Around Time is 15 minutes.

Note:  Type and Screen must be completed.  If antibody screen is 
negative, 15 minutes.

Methodology:

Red Blood Cells prepared from whole blood by centrifugation, 
leukocyte-reduced by filtration
