Special Care Nursery Laboratory Information

The Special Care Nurseries Laboratory located in 6853 JPP is designed to provide laboratory support for patients in selected critical care areas. This laboratory provides testing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The limited number of tests available are performed rapidly (within 10 minutes of receipt of specimen) for these critically ill newborns. Tests performed include: blood gases (PH, PCO2, PO2, calculated bicarbonate, base excess, total CO2), oxygen saturation, carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, hemoglobin, hematocrit, sodium, potassium, chloride, glucose, ionized calcium, lactate, and total bilirubin.
