Congratulations to Ann Morris, MD, Department of Radiation Oncology and student in the Master in Medical Education (MME) Program, for receiving the New Investigator award at the Central Group on Educational Affairs of the Association of American Medical Colleges meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 31, 2012. Ann is pictured here with Jeff Pettit, PhD, OCRME consultant. Ann’s poster entitled, “Development of a Low-Cost Ultrasound Phantom for Brachytherapy Simulation,” grew out of a project she did for Dr. Pettit’s Instructional Design course in the MME program. Other OCRME presentations at the meeting included a small group discussion entitled, “A Conversation About Dashboarding Educational Outcomes: Lessons,” led by Deborah Simpson (Medical College of Wisconsin), Kristi Ferguson (OCRME), Kimberly Hoffman (University of Missouri School of Medicine) and Kathryn Huggett (Creighton University School of Medicine), and three posters: “Use of iPads in Teaching: Results of a Survey” by Daniel Johnsen (OCRME) and Kristi Ferguson (OCRME); “Follow-up Survey of Teaching Elective Graduates,” by Kristi Ferguson (OCRME) and Jeffrey Pettit (OCRME); and “What’s the Use of Lecture Now? Assessing Student and Faculty Perceptions,” by Matthew Rysavy, Michael Haugsdal, Paul Christine, Serena Heinz, Jeff Emrich, Susan Lenoch, Rick Axelson, and Marc Pizzimenti (all of the University of Iowa at the time of the study). In addition, Jeff Pettit coordinated the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Program that was held in conjunction with the CGEA meeting. |
