University
of Iowa
COM Educational Development Fund provides grants
to COM faculty of up to $10,000 for educational innovation and
research. Spring and fall application cycles.
UI Instructional Improvement Awards fund up to
$5,000 for projects that “ will make exceptional and specific
contributions to learning.” Generally a fall application
cycle.
UI Innovations in Instructional Computing Awards support
“significant and innovative instructional computing projects”
that have the potential for broad impact. The program encourages
projects for undergraduate instruction but is not limited to that
target audience. Total funding of $100,000 and the number of awards
is determined by quality and number of applications. Generally
a fall application cycle.
Regional
and National
Edward J. Stemmler Medical Education Research Fund of the National
Board of Medical Examiners supports research and development
of innovative evaluation methods that show potential to enhance
assessment for either undergraduate or graduate medical education.
The maximum grant request is $70,000. The Call for Proposals is
generally announced in August with an application deadline in
November.
Health Professions Education and Training Grants sponsored
by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through Health
Resources and Services Administration provides a grant programs
to support health professions education and training. Application
deadlines are throughout the year.
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation provides funding to improve
the health care of Americans, including service demonstrations,
training and fellowship programs, and health services research.
They have several competitive national programs and also accept
unsolicited proposals that address their targeted areas. Application
deadlines are throughout the year.
Central Group on Educational Affairs Collaborative Proposals
provide $5,000 grants to support projects with other AAMC schools
in any area of medical education or faculty development. Generally
a winter application cycle.
