6” SmartSite® Needle-Free T-Connector Extension Set

To prepare:
1. Connect extension set to a fully primed primary infusion set.
2. Prime extension set. If needed, attach syringe to valve port and aspirate minute air bubbles.
To use:
1. Swab top of SmartSite® valve with alcohol swap prior to each access.
2. Luer lock syringe or IV tubing to the needle-free valve. Do not access valve with a needle - the valve will leak and need to be replaced.
Other information:
1. This product replaces the non-safety t-port extension set. The high users of this product are radiology, L&D, and peds anesthesia.
2. This is the same safety valve used on pediatric tubing.
3. If giving an IV push medication in a syringe with a fixed needle and there is no alternative, place a heparin lock (H5361) on the valve and carefully enter with the needle – only far enough to enter heparin lock and not puncture the valve. Notify Pharmacy of the fixed needle issue.
