Linen Room
The Hospital Linen Room staff is responsible for the
collection of soiled linen, the distribution of clean linen,
and the delivery of scrub clothes and lab coats. The staff is responsible for budgeting,
inventorying, and ordering all OR linen, patient linen, scrub
clothes, lab coats, and uniforms used at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Each day the Linen Room staff collects approximately
15,000 pounds of soiled linen for delivery to the Laundry;
does the inventory, restock, and exchange 50 clean linen supply carts;
inventory and restock clean linen cabinets in 160 user areas;
does the deliveries of 150 lab coats; and issues 75 clean uniforms. The Linen
Room also provides a courier service to the entire UI Hospitals and Clinics
for
delivery of additional items such as seizure pads, patient
restraints, and pillows.
