The Iowa Geriatric Education Center has developed geriatric "teaching moments" movie trailers on dementia, depression, delirium, and falls. These one- to two-minute summaries have been used effectively to introduce didactic lecture topics as well as in interactive workshops.
The didactic lecture remains a primary method of instruction in medical education, particularly for large class sizes. Capturing and maintaining the attention of students are some of the characteristics of an effective lecture. An engaging opening summary is critical to the success of the lecture and encourages students to focus with anticipation and mental alertness. These trailers can serve as excellent opening summaries to help capture the learners' attention.
All files are in Windows Media Audio/Video format.
