Unique Identifier = First 3 letters of last name, last 4 numbers in social security number, date of birth (mmddyyyy) and sex (M or F) (to allow LOCUS data to ultimately be mergeable with other data in DHS data warehouse (e.g., outcomes, financials, etc).

LOCUS (Level of care Utilization of Services for Psychiatric and Addiction Services)

A relatively simple, widely used scale to determine appropriate level of care for adults with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.

CA-LOCUS / CASII: (Child and Adolescent Level of Care Utilization System)

Basically, the child and adolescent version of the LOCUS. Later renamed as the CASII: Child and Adolescent Service Intensity Instrument The above links to a the CA-Locus version 1.5

Training on the GAF

The Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) is probably the most widely used functional assessment scale in all of mental health, as it has been adopted as the 5th axis in the DSM system over the past 25 years. This site provides free on-line training through the use of brief vignettes that have been pre-scored.

ROMS resources

This is a method of outcomes assessment for adults with serious mental illness. It is being promoted by a company called Polaris Health Directions. Magellan Behavioral Health is using some of their instruments and software.
