Wheelchair & Seating Service
The Wheelchair & Seating Service (WSS) at the Center for Disabilities and Development has been a resource for people with disabilities for more than 25 years. Now we are able to bring that service to you in your community, as well. Whether in our building or in your community we work closely with the individual, the family, community providers, and the familiar chosen vendor. We provide:
- Clinical assessments
- Recommendations for specialized controls and communication aids
- Recommendations for better seating and positioning
- Prescriptions for manual and power wheelchairs and seating equipment, specialized controls and communication aids
- Production of Contour U molds and impressions for Silhouette cushions (seating often needed for more complex patients)
- Information on how to use and care for equipment
The newest equipment can be made available for a try out before making a decision. We can also recommend adaptions to help accommodate growth and development.
WSS Clinic and WSS Outreach Clinic
- Evaluations in CDD are scheduled as a part of our Tuesday and Thursday WSS Clinic.
- Through our Outreach Clinic we provide WSS services on a schedule to meet the unique local needs.
- All of our clinics strive to work closely with community providers.
