Fellowships, Enhanced Stipends, & Institutional Awards

The Biosciences Program does not require that students have individual fellowships. However, we strongly encourage students with highly competitive academic credentials and research experience to apply to such sources.

Enhanced Stipend:

Award recipients who are successful in obtaining competitive external funding may be eligible for the following.

Supplement for External Fellowship Program - Carver College of Medicine

All graduate students who obtain individual, competitive extramural fellowships of $10,000 or more shall be eligible to receive a supplement to their stipend of $2000 per year.  This supplement will be provided for the lifetime of the fellowship award.  All graduate students in graduate programs in the Biosciences Program, the Basic Science Departments in the CCOM, the MSTP, the Graduate Program in Free Radical Biology, the four Interdepartmental Graduate Programs (Genetics, Immunology, Neuroscience, and Molecular & Cellular Biology), are eligible for this supplement.
