Distinguished Alumni Awards

Established in 1998, the UI Carver College of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Awards is the highest honor the College bestows upon its graduates. Throughout the country and world, UI Carver College alumni and friends are influencing the delivery of health care, changing the course of medical education, and conducting groundbreaking research. Each year, outstanding individuals are honored as Distinguished Alumni for their professional achievements and service and their influence in the world of science and medicine.

The College and its Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee are dedicated to ensuring the pool of nominations is diverse within the areas of ethnicity, gender and academic/professional disciplines. Help us identify those alumni for consideration of the College’s highest alumni recognition.

Our elite alumni group is composed of all graduates of the College’s medical education, residency and fellowship training, associated medical sciences and basic science programs.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards are given in the following categories:

Award for Achievement

Honors University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine alumni for significant professional accomplishments in science, medicine and education.

Award for Service

Honors University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine alumni for meritorious leadership and service in a professional capacity or in the broader community.

Award for Friendship

Granted to individuals, not necessarily alumni, for support of and dedication to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and its missions of education, research and service.

Early Distinguished Career Achievement Award

Honors University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine graduates of the past 20 years who have achieved early distinction in their field.
