Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The following documentation is required:

  1. Common Application Form (CAF)
  2. Dean’s letter of recommendation
  3. Transcripts
  4. Three letters of recommendation other than the Dean’s letter
  5. USMLE Step I scores (Step II also preferred before Residency Program starts)
  6. Photo
  7. Personal statement
  8. CV

Deadline for submitting your transmitted application to our ERAS Post Office is November 15th. Paper applications are not acceptable; all applications must be processed through ERAS. We do not have a minimum score requirement. We review the complete application considering all provided information. Scores and grades are important and are considered as part of the whole selection process. We sponsor J-1 visas and do not review applications of candidates who have been out of medical school more than five years.

An individual interview is required to compete the application process. Your application and letters will be reviewed and you will be notified if you are selected for an interview. Our first-year residents are selected through the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program). Those not invited for an interview will not be ranked. Our program is of the categorical variety, hence we accept applications only from those who are interested in a full five year surgical residency. Our five interview dates are held on selected Saturdays in December and January. Residents completing the program are eligible to sit for the American Board of Surgery.
