The Body Imaging Section of the Department of Radiology at The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, Iowa, is seeking a full-time faculty with open rank in either the tenure track or non-tenure clinical track as an abdominal imager.

In addition to clinical activities, teaching and call duties are shared across the section.

The Department of Radiology is filmless with an electronic medical record and PACS and includes 37 staff physicians, 13 fellows, 15 Ph.D. researchers, and 32 residents. The University of Iowa operates six clinical 16 to 128 MDCT scanners including a dual source 64. There are six clinical MR scanners including a 3T and a large bore Espree.  An additional 3T scanner is dedicated to research.

The University of Iowa is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state and has a large number of very active clinical and research programs. The Department has a strong research record in imaging, and the university has a new campus-wide initiative in bio-imaging centered in the radiology Department. For highly academically motivated candidates, research start-up funds are available and faculty typically receive protected time to pursue academic interests.

Four years post-doctoral training in radiology.

Candidates must be board certified and eligible for an Iowa medical license.

Fellowship training in abdominal imaging or experience beyond residency in abdominal imaging is preferred.  The ideal candidate would have experience in all aspects of abdominal imaging, including CT, ultrasound, MRI, fluoroscopy, and percutaneous biopsy. Both a demonstrated facility for teaching and, for tenure track appointments, a history of funded research is highly desirable.
