The sixth annual Great Plains Analytical Cytometry Association Conference will be held in the afternoon and evening of Friday, September 13 and the morning of Saturday, September 14. GPACA 2013 is hosted by the University of Iowa Flow Cytometry Facility and Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Registration

  • There is NO REGISTRATION FEE for GPACA 2013. However, you must register in order to attend the conference.

Pre-conference Schedule

  • Wednesday, September 11
  • 9:00-12:00  /  1:00-5:00 ExCyte Expert Cytometry course: Flow Cytometry Bootcamp (registration through ExCyte and fee necessary for this course)
  • Educational objectives: This one day course will cover critical parameters to consider for improving flow cytometry experiments, while focusing on providing the knowledge to move towards higher parameter (8++) assays. (course outline)

    Target Audience: Users with basic flow cytometry experience and a desire to move to higher end assays (from 4 color experiments to 8++ color)

    Venue: 2-501 Bowen Science Building (BSB)

    Precourse material on compensation and controls will be provided to attendees to review before the course.

  • Thursday, September 12
  • 9:00-12:00 /  1:00-5:00 ExCyte Expert Cytometry course: Analysis of Complex Data Sets (registration through Excyte and fee necessary for this course)
  • Educational objectives: This one day course will cover critical aspects for improving data analysis. (course outline)

    Target Audience: Users with 6+ months of flow cytometry experience who are analyzing their own data.

    Venue: 2-501 Bowen Science Building (BSB)

    Precourse material on compensation and controls will be provided to attendees to review before the course.

  • Friday, September 13
  • 9:00-11:00 FlowJo seminar presented by Treestar's Dr. Nicholas Ostrout (there is no fee for this seminar, but you must register to attend)
  • FlowJo version 10 has undergone a major refinement. While the core functionality of FlowJo remains unchanged, the interface has been updated to be more in line with modern software designs. In addition, performance and stability have increased exponentially. Many of the platforms have been streamlined and updated as well. The first half of the seminar will cover the basic functionality of the program, from the workspace and adding samples, to generating reports of statistics and graphics in the table and layout editors. The second half will focus on the platforms, starting with compensation.
