New Course and Strand Directors Announced
December 18, 2012 – With the Dean’s decision in October to implement parts of the triple-helix curriculum in the fall of 2013 and the full curriculum beginning with students entering in the fall of 2014, the Curriculum Steering Committee has moved at a rapid pace to interview and select faculty to oversee and manage the new curriculum. Strand Directors will oversee the sequencing of concepts and the integration of basic science and clinical material across all four years of the curriculum. They will also work closely with Course Directors who are charged with designing, developing, and implementing content and courses within curricular blocks. As a group, Course Directors sharing course responsibilities during the same semester will coordinate the timing and integration of content within that semester
Although the Strand and Course Directors officially assume their responsibilities on January 1, 2013, they are already hard at work developing the two curricular components, Medicine and Society (MAS) and Clinical and Professional Skills (CAPS) that will be implemented in the fall of 2013. Though not facing the same urgency, the Course Directors for the Mechanisms of Health and Disease (MOHD) strand have also begun work on this segment of the new curriculum which is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2014.
Please join us in congratulating the following strand and course directors and in supporting them as they begin their work.
We would also like to thank the interview team for offering their time and careful consideration in hiring these outstanding faculty members!
