Integrated Strategic Plan

UI Health Care is guided by an integrated strategic plan. The common themes throughout the strategic plan are those of achievement, inclusion, collaboration, and accountability – all directed toward excellence in our missions of patient care, education, and research.

Strategic and fiscal leadership is provided by a single senior management team that includes UI Hospitals and Clinics, Carver College of Medicine, and UI Physicians leaders and is led by the Vice President for Medical Affairs. Day-to-day operational decisions are made by the senior leaders for their areas of responsibility. In addition, some previously separate functions of the College and Hospital are now integrated and provide service and support for the entire organization. These include: information technology, finance, human resources, marketing and communications, and strategic planning and business development.

As part of the University of Iowa, UI Health Care collaborates with the other colleges within the university to deliver its mission. In addition, UI Health Care plays a key role as a critical economic engine for the state and as a major contributor of community benefit for the citizens of Iowa.
